How to Cook Dried Beans

Cooking with dried beans is a cheaper, tastier, and fresher experience.

Soak your beans overnight or do a quick soak in a pinch. A quick soak involves bringing your beans to a boil and them letting them rest covered for an hour.

Re-hydrate

Stovetop Cooking

Cover the beans with 2-3 inches of water, bring them to a boil, and let them simmer for 30 minutes to 2 hours- until tender.

Add aromatics like herbs, garlic, onion, peppercorns, or dried chilies at the beginning of cooking. Use a tied up cheesecloth for easy removal.

Storing

Store your cooked beans in the fridge for 4-5 days or in portioned out bags in the freezer for up to 6 months.
