Ingredients
Use wholesome ingredients to make this delectable smoothie!
Frozen Banana– Bananas give this smoothie its creamy texture while working to provide essential vitamins and minerals, improve heart health, boost your energy levels, and support weight management.
Avocado– Incorporating avocados into your diet provides many general health benefits with healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals. They can support eye health, skin health, digestive health, bone health, and heart health.
Medjool Dates– Used as a natural sweetener, they’re often referred to as “nature’s candy”. Dates are high in natural sugars that help complement and boost the sweetness of this smoothie.
Cacao Powder– Derived from the raw seeds of the cacao tree, it is a highly nutritious superfood with potent antioxidant properties and a natural stimulant that provides an energy boost.
Mint– Aside from its refreshing flavor and aroma, mint can improve digestion, enhance mental clarity, and reduce stress when incorporated into your diet. Try growing some in your garden or on your kitchen windowsill!
Cacao Nibs (optional)- If you’re interested in a slightly crunchy texture and an added energy boost to your smoothie, add raw cacao nibs at the end of blending.
FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
You can. Start with a small amount (about 4 drops), as mint extract is very concentrated. Adjust the amount by taste.
To thicken your smoothie, incorporate additional frozen bananas or avocado. Alternatively, you can add more ice cubes if you don’t mind diluting the flavor slightly. Try a dollop or two of Greek yogurt if you aren’t worried about keeping it vegan. These ingredients will give your smoothie a creamier and thicker texture.
Including additional medjool dates or adding a small amount of maple syrup or honey can sweeten your smoothie without refined sugar.
Raw cacao powder yields a more intense chocolate taste and additional health benefits, but you can use unsweetened cocoa powder for a rich chocolate flavor.
Yes, you can add protein powder, such as whey, pea, or hemp protein, to boost the protein content. Adjust the amount based on your dietary needs and the protein powder’s serving size recommendation.
